This is a custom four-unit residential project in downtown Menlo Park. While this premier site was previously occupied by a single family home, the design now reflects the neighboring multi-family properties and responds to the need for downtown housing. Three residential units in contemporary style sit at the front of the site, while a gated single family home is tucked behind. The design accommodates and celebrates an existing heritage oak tree in a landscaped courtyard between the two structures. Each unit in the main building is served by a convenient elevator and all parking is contained onsite. The units feature open plan kitchens, indoor-outdoor fireplaces, and living room spaces with expansive window walls that open onto large private terraces. The private home has a vaulted ceiling in the living room, disappearing glass walls, and indoor-outdoor fireplaces to connect the interior with the patio and garden.
