3159 El Camino Real

Mixed Use Building (Micro Housing, Retail, Office, Urban Infill)

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Area: 74,122 SQ-FT

Completed: Unbuilt

This urban infill development incorporates an existing gym into a vibrant mixed use compound with double-height ground floor retail and restaurant space, second floor offices, and two floors of studio and one-bedroom apartments. Echoing the industrial character of the neighborhood, the expressed concrete and steel structure creates a strong street edge along El Camino Real. The glassy first floor retail/restaurant spills out onto an elevated outdoor gathering space to create a lively and inviting pedestrian experience, while the interior courtyard creates a semi-private space for residents. The project was praised by the city of Palo Alto Architectural Review Board, Planning Commission and City Council for bringing a “true mixed-use project” to the city. This project is envisioned to be LEED for HOMES MID-RISE SILVER noted. It will meet CalGreen Tier 2 and be Green Point Rated.
